Is Funnel Runners Multiplayer?

Yes. Funnel Runners can be played alone or in online co-op. The official Steam listing and the developer's multiplayer Devlog confirm support for one to eight players.

The co-op group shares the same high-level objective: search the generated environment for the supplies needed by the current run, repair the van and escape. Every person joining an online session needs the game installed and an internet connection, according to the official multiplayer notes.

This /multiplayer page is the site's canonical page for both “Funnel Runners multiplayer” and “Funnel Runners co-op” questions. A separate duplicate /co-op page is intentionally not used.

How Many Players Can Play Funnel Runners?

Official sources list a supported group size of 1–8 players. One player can complete a run solo, while additional players can join through the online lobby system.

The evidence does not provide a separate split-screen or local co-op mode. Local or split-screen co-op is not confirmed by available sources.

Solo vs. Online Co-op

Solo play

Solo play uses the same core repair-and-escape structure. The developer says that multiplayer balancing responds to the number of players, so choosing solo does not simply mean playing an eight-player workload alone.

The official source does not publish a complete solo difficulty formula or exact event counts. Not confirmed by available sources.

Online co-op

In online co-op, the team can divide searching, carrying and repair work between players. Official gallery images show players acting together, carrying vehicle parts and transporting a downed teammate, but those images do not establish mandatory roles or one best team strategy.

Role restrictions, class systems or required team compositions are not confirmed by available sources.

Public and Private Lobbies

The official multiplayer Devlog documents both public and private lobby options. A developer response in the Steam community also confirms a public lobby list and the ability to lock a lobby as private.

Public lobby visibility

Public lobbies can appear in the public lobby list and may be joined by players outside the host's existing group. The available evidence confirms public visibility, but it does not provide a permanent guarantee about lobby availability, matchmaking population or connection quality.

Private lobby visibility

Private lobbies are not shown in the public list. They are intended for a controlled group rather than open discovery by strangers.

The available sources do not document a permanent step-by-step invitation interface for the current build. Exact invitation steps are not confirmed by available sources.

Lobby settings

Official Devlog #006 says a lobby can be configured with options for the map, time and voice communication. The evidence pack does not provide a complete current list of every lobby setting or its allowed values.

How Multiplayer Scaling Works

Funnel Runners adjusts parts of a run according to the number of players. The developer specifically documents scaling for the number of vehicle problems and for map events.

Vehicle problem scaling

The number of vehicle problems is automatically balanced around the current player count. The available source does not publish the exact formula, thresholds or a guaranteed number of faults for each group size.

Map events and map size

Map events also scale with player count, while the physical map size remains unchanged. A larger group therefore does not receive a larger map solely because more players joined.

Exact event counts and difficulty multipliers are not confirmed by available sources.

Voice Chat and Communication

Official Communication Systems notes describe proximity chat, a Walkie Talkie and a Broadcast Radio. Players can also mute individual teammates and adjust per-player voice volume.

Proximity chat

Proximity chat changes communication according to distance between players. The available source confirms the system but does not provide a verified numerical range.

Walkie Talkie

The Walkie Talkie supports communication over distance and must be switched on before use. Exact range, spawn rate and battery behavior are not confirmed by available sources.

Broadcast Radio

The Broadcast Radio sends a player's voice through speakers on the van's roof, allowing the transmission to be heard across the map. The official source does not provide a numerical range or guaranteed item location.

For communication-item details, see the items guide.

Funnel Runners Crossplay Status

As of the August 9, 2026 evidence check, Funnel Runners was officially available on Windows PC through Steam. The official store data did not list macOS or Linux support, and no official Xbox or PlayStation release was identified.

Because the available sources confirm only the Windows PC release, PC-to-console crossplay is not a verified feature. Not confirmed by available sources.

Steam's “Full controller support” label describes controller support for the PC version. It is not evidence of an Xbox or PlayStation version.

Early Access and Version Baseline

Funnel Runners remains in Early Access. This page uses version baseline 0.36.11, the latest build verified in the site's evidence pack as of August 9, 2026. The lobby and communication explanations come from official April and May 2026 development logs.

Lobby behavior, balancing and communication options may change during Early Access. Connection and invitation problems documented in patch notes are covered separately in the online fixes and known issues guide.
